Qualitätsmanagement

Successful certification
Since July 2007 our “Fachklinik St. Georg” at Höchenschwand is certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2000. Given the introduction of a quality management system (QMS) and the application of the quality assurance scheme of the “Deutsche Rentenversicherung” (German pension insurance) we are well prepared for the future.

What means being certified according to DIN ISO 9001:2000?
The series of norms EN ISO 9000 bis represents rules, which establish principles for quality management schemes. Together they form a coherent set of norms for quality management systems, aiming at improving the mutual understanding on national and international level. Each product is subject to different specific requirements and its production needs therefore individual quality assurance measures.
Quality management systems, however, are not product-oriented and can be based consequently on a similar structure regardless of the branch and the specific products. The successful operation and running of an organization requires a systematic and clear management. One way to achieve success consists in introducing and in maintaining a management system, aiming at a constant improvement of performances by taking into consideration the needs of all concerned parties.
Running an organization includes the quality management among other management tasks.  The norms EN ISO 9000:2000 bis have principally a process-oriented structure.

Quality management
The quality management enables us to describe in a clear way structured working processes and provides reliable criteria for their evaluation. The QM provides guidelines for the employees in the daily working routine and helps to optimize the working processes. However, it is our patients, who benefit most from it: the certification ensures the highest treatment and service quality. The permanent control of the compliance with established standards guarantees a constant level of the service and treatment quality.

Transparency and clarity
The essential features of the quality management system are established by the common structure of the quality management manual. It describes all relevant aspects of quality concerning the structure, the processes and the results of the rehabilitation clinic as well as the process underlying the constant development regarding the three dimensions.

Content of the quality management manual
Part A includes all essential information concerning the rehabilitation institution (goals, performances and services, structural data) as well as a description of the quality management system

Part B contains the quality elements; this means general rules for the work within the rehabilitation institution, which will remain valid in the long-term.
Part C describes in a detailed way in the process map single proceedings and working processes along with the connected documents and materials

Part D contains working instructions, standards and guidelines, including complementary information concerning the content of part C

Responsibilities

In order to maintain and to develop an operational quality management system, it is necessary to define the tasks and the responsibilities of the various actors within the business.
The managing board of the rehabilitation centre bears the central responsibility for the quality of the services in the rehabilitation institution. This responsibility cannot be delegated. However, it is possible to cede certain tasks concerning the maintenance and the development of the quality management system. The management is obliged to provide sufficient resources for the maintenance of the quality management system. It conducts annually a management evaluation and fixes the strategic framework underlying the development of the rehabilitation institution.
The steering board represents the different professional categories working in the rehabilitation institution and supports the clinic management in the further development of the QMS. The clinic management decides in accordance with the steering board on the implementation of modifications.
The QMS responsible coordinates on behalf of the clinic management, which bears the central responsibility for the quality of the services in the rehabilitation centre, the maintenance and development of the QMS.
The persons responsible for working processes take care of the reasonable and systematic development of the processes in their competence field. They are interlocutors for emerging questions or problems concerning the organization of working processes. If there is need, they are expected to elaborate improvement proposals together with the involved employees.
The employees bear the responsibility as specialists in their mission for the quality in their immediate working environment. This includes, among other requirements, the reliable compliance with established processes, the use of the provided documents and the execution of the work in accordance with professional standards. The elements of the QMS (processes, documents, tools) concerning single working fields shall be improved together with the competent employee, who is responsible for the concerned working process.
