The controlled outdoor training and its goals The network of training trails at the climatic resort of Höchenschwand (1015 metres above sea level) has an overall length of 45 kilometres and runs around the village and the “Höchenschwander Berg”.
The trails for outdoor training are designed for a controlled exercise, which aims at improving the capacity of the cardiovascular system. Every single trail has characteristic features as to the length, the elevation profile, the situation and the height. Thanks to the different characteristics the patient is able to intensify individually and gradually the exercise level and to keep control of it.
All trails for outdoor training start and end at the house of the guest. The ways are signposted and equipped with information points concerning their particular features.
What does “controlled outdoor training” mean? Controlled outdoor training means moderate walking on trails with a certain elevation profile with the aim to increase the physical ability, in particular the endurance capacity. It has favourable effects on the performance of the cardiovascular system, on the locomotor system (muscles and joints) and in particular on the respiratory system. With the heath resort of Höchenschwand being situated at a height of 1015 above sea level it has almost a high mountain climate.
The high mountain climate is characterized by: moderate temperatures, low concentration of allergens, like pollen and dust mites, stronger winds and more intensive ultra-violet radiation. It is important, that the organism is not exposed to excessive strain, neither in the acclimatizing phase nor later.
